Big News!!!!!!

Joy of joys, I have been accepted to Le Cordon Bleu in Paris!  I am so honored and thrilled beyond belief that I almost have to pinch myself to see if I am dreaming.  Le Cordon Bleu has two main programs, culinary and patisserie, and each offers a diploma.  If you get a diploma from BOTH divisions, you have Le Grand Diploma. Both divisions are divided into 3 parts: Level I, Level II, and Level III.  Each of these is approximately 12 weeks long.  But Paris offers an intensive course where you can go 9 hours a day, 6 days a week and finish each level in 4 weeks.  I am going to Level I patisserie.  It was a hard decison whether to go to patisserie or culinary school, but I chose the former.  The intensive course is only offered once or twice a year so it will not be until the same time next year that I will go back.  If I pass, that is!  Then I go back 6 months later for the Level III and get a diploma from LE CORDON BLEU.  What a dream come true for moi.  I have always wanted to go to culinary school, but of course when I went to college, most girls went into nursing or teaching.  A few rogue cool girls went into business (you know who you are, you Power Suit  Hotties). Then I got married, we were too poor to ever entertain such an idea. Soon the boys came with its own wonderful 23 + year era, but the desire was always there.  Now is the time.  I am sure I will be the oldest in the class, but I m also sure I will be one of the most enthusiastic!  I will keep you all updated on my progress.  I really feel that I could start at Level II, mais non!, c'est not permitted!  You must start at the beginning.  So I will and I will be happy to do it.  I will be putty in their hands.  Soon I will add some pictures of the teeny tiny apartment I have rented on the Rue St Honore.  It is 38 sq meters.  Since I am not well versed in the metric system, I am not sure of the size but I know it will be nice and cozy.  Let me tell you, though, it looks very darling.  Here is the one little reason I think I got it for such a good price.  It is on the 5th -- FIFTH-- floor, NO ELEVATOR.  Maybe I shall come back a bit more svelte and French like, non?  Keep your fingers crossed, yet the chances are that all the pastries we will be preparing will negate all those stairs. :(
