About La Dolce Vita

La Dolce Vita, or the Sweet life in Italian, is located at 165 South Main Street in darling downtown Roanoke, Indiana.  I founded La Dolce Vita with the desire to offer delicious food and host beautiful events in this time of fast food and poor eating. I strive for European elegancecombined with American spirit.   All of the items we offer are made-to-order without any preservatives, using only the finest ingredients.  I buy as many locally grown fruits and vegetables and raised meat as I can.  

With a friend and local farmer, we are raising Bresse chickens.  We are the only people in Indiana to raise what is considered world wide to be the finest, most tender chicken.  I also raise honey bees in my back yard. An avid cook and foodie, I began in the kitchen at a very young age, watching those early cooking shows, then playing food host or chef on my own. I followed Mom around the kitchen, learning as she made delicious home cooked meals every day. For her, there was no line between baking and cooking; she did it all and with great aplomb.  She was a fabulous entertainer as well. Growing up in the Midwest, I did all the typical things rural kids do: Home Economics, FHA and 4-H.  I believe these early cooking classes laid a solid foundation for my trust in the magic a little sugar, flour, eggs and butter can create.

My culinary skills have certainly evolved since those days!  I hold a very hard earned Diplome de Patisserie from Le Cordon Bleu, Paris.  My other classes have been and continue to be taken at The French Pastry School, The Ritz Escoffier, Paris, The Culinary Institute of America, Blackberry Farms, Anguilla, Bali, and Italy.  I have cooked alongside Patricia Wells, Rick Bayless, Marcus Samuelsson, and Jean Georges Vonderichten. 

La Dolce Vita brings the finest dishes and throws the most elegant parties for you.   We treat each event individually, and can go from a fun, outdoor country dinner to the finest French food served with beautiful china, crystal and sterling silver.


Culinary Classes

I offer cooking classes in the winter and spring.  These classes are mixed up in variety and scope.  Some are hands-on, where the guests cook alongside me, and others are demonstration.  Sometimes I bring in a guest chef.  They are loads of fun.  Many people book private cooking classes for parties.  They are full of laughter and educational!

Fearless Cook

As an extension of La Dolce Vita, Fearless Cook is fortunate to have accounts with Le Creuset, Seda France, Jura/Capresso, Wustoff, Sferra Linens, Haute Home, MerSea, Golden Rabbit, Secrets de Provence, olive oils, vinegars, mustards, and Bella Cucina spreads, to name a few.  Located at 142 North Main Street, just a mere block from La Dolce Vita, Fearless Cook is chock-a-block full of everything you could use in your kitchen as well as the perfect gifts for your favorite fearless cook! Please stop in and enjoy the selection.  I am very proud to be one of the only two La Cornue Range representatives for Indiana.  Just because they are beautiful does not mean they aren’t work horses.  I own two and that is a testament to how much I believe in them. 

Lunch on Wednesdays

We serve lunch to the public on Wednesdays from 11 to 2 with a wonderful wine to pair with these meals. Every week the carefully selected menu will different, depending on what is fresh and what new recipe we have created or discovered.  All of our bread, salad dressing, and spreads are homemade.


Once a month, at 8:00 am I do a small segment on WANE TV’s morning show on Sunday and occasional television spots in Indianapolis on various channels.

Meals to Go

Meals are available for pick up or delivery.   Many of our clients order meals for friends having babies, who are ill or super swamped, or for new neighbors.  Customers order pies or cakes to be delivered to their loved ones from far away.

Private Parties

La Dolce Vita is a beautiful space to hold your dinners, showers, and celebrations in.  It easily seats up to 45. I want you to experience an elegant, healthy life every day, not just when you go out for special occasions.  I believe in pure, crisp flavors, carefully executed and thoughtfully presented.  After I few bites, I hope you will too.

Once a year I take a group to a chosen destination in Europe. This trip is designed from beginning to end with you in mind. It allows you to see the finest places through dining, shopping and experiences, in the chosen city and surrounding areas.
